Database Administrator - IDMS

Local MNCs is looking expansion in their IT infrastructure Team. They are looking for dynamic and experience individual to be part their growing team

Reponsibilities

• Proficiency in database administration focusing on application development, support and architectural areas
• Provide on-call support for database problem resolution and recovery
• Assist in achieving availability goals, support of delivery centers and systems support teams
• Establishing the needs of users and monitoring user access and security
• Monitoring performance and managing parameters to provide fast query responses to 'front end' users
• Mapping out the ‘conceptual design’ for a planned database in outline
• Considering both 'back end' organisation of data and 'front end' accessibility for end users
• Refining the ‘logical design’ so that it can be translated into a specific data model
• Further refining the ‘physical design’ to meet system storage requirements
• Installing and testing new versions of the database management system (IDMS)
• Maintaining data standards, including adherence to the Data Protection Act
• Writing database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary 
• Controlling access permissions and privileges
• Developing, managing and testing backup and recovery plans
• Ensuring that storage, archiving, backup and recovery procedures are functioning correctly
• Communicating regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security
• Commissioning and installing new applications
• Experience in managing a support team 

Requirement:

• Degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering/Information Technology or Engineering-related discipline with minimum of 7 years IT experience 
• At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in an aggressive 24 x 7 MVS/zOS environment, utilizing IDMS 
• Proficiency in DBMS administration from a development, support and architecture standpoint
• Experience with application support and database area re-orgs
• Familiarity with applications programming concepts and the ability to code at least one programming language such as COBOL or Assembler
• Excellent proficiency with JCL and IDMS internals
• Experience with a second DBMS (DB2/Oracle) is highly desirable
• Strong communication, interpersonal and collaborative skills. Work well within a team. Motivated, self starter.
• It will be a strong advantage if you have experience in transition of the above duty from counterparts in oversea countries
