Assistant/Mechanical Manager
The Job
- Responsible for basic and detailed marine systems design to support tender for new construction;
- Responsible to prepare tender specification, system drawings, calculations etc to support project tender;
- Managed a team of Engineers / Assistant Engineers in Marine Systems/Mechanical Dept to meet project requirements;
- Liaise with project managers, customers, ship owner’s representatives, classification society surveyors, and other relevant authorities for all technical issues pertaining to ship / marine system design;
- Liaise with marine equipment suppliers for equipment selection to meet ship / marine system requirements;
- Participate in system commissioning and sea acceptance trials to resolve technical issues with customers, ship owner’s representatives, classification society surveyors, and other relevant authorities as and when required.
Requirements:
- Minimum degree holder in mechanical and/or marine disciple with more than 6 years working experience in marine industry preferably in sipyard design office, engineering office, marine consultant / design house and / or classification societies and holding management positions for last 3 - 5 years;
- Knowledge on marine / ship systems design requirements such as Classification Society Rules, IMO Regulations, SOLAS Requirements, and general marine standards and practices;
- Knowledge of design / drawing systems software such as Tribon, Auto-Cad etc
- Sailing Experience, preferably with Certificate of Competency and in the capacity as Chief Engineer without experience in design will also be considered
Mechanical Design Engineers
The Job
- Develop basic design for onboard marine and mechanical systems for Classification Society Approval. The systems are sub-divided into:
a) Supporting services for propulsion system
b) Ship services
c) Hotel services
d) Heating, Ventilation and Air-conditioning
e) Fire Safety
- Engage specialist suppliers to provide the basic design.
- Selection and procurement of major equipment based on the capacities sized during the basic design of the systems.
- Responsible for the design, research, development and implementation of marine engineering system and other marine related engineering products for commercial and naval ships.
- Develop products and concepts base on technical and/or customers’ specifications.
- Provide concept design and classification drawing and arrangements.
- Coordinate and manage outsourced works and equipment purchases related to the design.
Requirements:
- *Basic* Design experience in the shipbuilding industry or plan approval experience in the Classification Societies.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Marine Engineering
- Knowledge of Marine Mechanical Systems
- Sailing Experience, preferably with Certificate of Competency and in the capacity as Chief Engineer without experience in design will also be considered
Working Hours: 7:25am - 5:00pm, Mon - Fri
Salary Range for Mechanical Manager: Up to $5000
Salary Range for Mechanical Design Engineer: Up to $4000
